Baltic Lighthouse

The lighthouse in Baltiysk is a symbol of the city and attracts the attention of citizens and guests.

The lighthouse's history dates back to the 18th century. The first prototype of the lighthouse in Pillau was on Mount Pfundebudeberg. In 1804, the fire that served as a lighthouse was moved to nearby Lemberg Mountain. A few years later, the construction of a full-fledged lighthouse began along Licentstrasse, which served as a pilot tower until 1910.

The Baltiysk Embankment, also known as Marine Boulevard, is a pedestrian street connecting the Kaliningrad Bay with the sea.

It starts from Red Army Street, i.e. almost from the port and stretches to the beach. At the end is the Baltic Pier, which is actually a continuation of it.

There are several monuments here, the most famous of which are the monument to the sailor's wife and the equestrian monument to Empress Elizabeth Petrovna. The latter is the main decoration of the embankment, and one of the key attractions of the city.

The Pilot Tower

The Pilot Tower

The Pilot Tower is an architectural structure located in Baltiysk on the shore of the strait. The thirty-meter tower has an unusual shape and is an example of architectural constructivism of the XX century.

The Pilot Tower was erected in 1936 for the start of the Olympic Games held in Germany. Before the Second World War, pilots settled here, and later the Baltic Naval Base raid service post was located in the tower.

In the early 1990s, the first vessel traffic control system in the region was installed in the tower.

Museum of the Baltic Fleet

The Baltic Fleet Museum is located in the former Pillau courthouse built in 1903, which has the status of an architectural monument. The permanent exhibitions of the museum cover the entire period of the history of the fleet — from the time of Peter the Great to the present day, and are dedicated to its constituent forces and means.

The museum collections number more than 20 thousand exhibits. Among other exhibits in the museum courtyard is a boat of Somali pirates, captured by the crew of the ship "Intrepid" in 2008.

The museum library has more than 12 thousand books, newspapers and magazines.

St. George

St. George's Naval Cathedral

St. George's Naval Cathedral of the Baltic Fleet has been operating since 1991. The building where the church used to be was built in 1866 at the expense of parishioners of the Reformed community. The church was built in the Neo—Gothic style - the facade is decorated with lancet windows, the silhouette of the building emphasizes the desire to rise. In 1934, the church was rebuilt.

The building was damaged during the Pillau assault in the spring of 1945. In Soviet times, the sailors' club was first located here, and then the building was given over to a military warehouse. In the early 90s of the XX century, the building became a church again - the Orthodox Naval Cathedral began work here.

Water tower X. Hoppa is one of the symbols of Baltiysk. It is located on Lenin Avenue next to the multi-storey building No. 62.

The height of the structure is 32 meters, and the tank capacity is 300 cubic meters. Erected in 1927, the tower served not only as a water reservoir, but also as an observation tower for the military garrison.

The Northern Pier was built in Pillau in 1840-1883.

The pier is about 525 meters long.

The Pastor

The Pastor's House

The pastor's house in Baltiysk is an architectural monument of the early 20th century. It was built on the seashore along Chekhov Street, next to the harbor-1 park named after A. Golovko.

The two-storey brick building is well preserved. It was built by Friedrich Heitmann in the Gothic style and has a tower. Currently, the Roman Catholic parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located on the ground floor, and the rector of the parish, Father Michael, lives on the second floor.

Services are held in a small chapel.

Business card of Baltiysk. The monument was erected in 1998 in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Baltic Fleet.

Peter the Great came to Pillau three times and received extremely positive emotions from his visits. He even called it "my little Amsterdam."

Peter the Great is depicted in full height on a high figured pedestal. The monument is over 6 meters high and weighs 2.5 tons.

It was created by sculptors I.A. Minina and V.I. Barteneva.

The Western Fort

Fort Zapadny is a part of the coastal fortifications of Pillau. It was laid out on the Frische Nehrung Spit (now Baltic) in 1869. The "Western" one is separated from other forts and protects Pillau from the other shore (across the strait is the Northern Pier and the monument to Elizabeth Petrovna). The fortification is built in the form of an arc, closing the fortress from the northwest.

Fort Vostochny was built in 1889. It was part of the Pillau defensive system, designed to cover the strait through which the ships sailed to Konigsberg. The fort is a hexagon surrounded by a moat, the south-western side of which is drawn inside. Today, the fort is privately owned, there is no free access to the territory. It has the status of a cultural heritage site of regional significance.

A key object of the city for recreational purposes. The spacious, wide beach coast of light sand stretches for more than 3 km along the city, and it is separated from residential buildings by a green park. The entrance to the water is shallow, the depth increases with great speed.

The temple was founded in honor of the holy righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov. Later, the cathedral was renamed in honor of the holy Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky and received the status of a patriarchal compound. Monument to Empress Elizabeth Petrovna

The monument to Empress Elizabeth Petrovna by Georgy Frangulyan appeared in 2003. The Empress is depicted riding a horse, in the dress of a colonel of the Life Guards of the Preobrazhensky Regiment, in the so-called "ladies' uniform." She meets the ships entering the bay. The height of the statue is 6.3 meters, the total height with a pedestal is 14 meters. The weight of the statue is 17 tons. The Monument to Empress Elizabeth is the only ceremonial female equestrian statue in the world.
